Meet Ruth Schock - Helping You Navigate the Perfect Boat –

For Ruth Schock, boating isn’t just a pastime—it’s a way of life. Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, she grew up sailing with her family out of Richmond Yacht Club, developing a deep passion for the sport from an early age.

Ruth took her love for sailing to the next level in college, attending the University of California, Irvine, where she raced CFJs on the national intercollegiate circuit as a member of the UCI Sailing Team while earning her degree in Civil Engineering. She later went on to receive her MBA from Pepperdine University, combining her technical expertise with business acumen.

Throughout her life, Ruth has taken on incredible sailing challenges, including twice competing in the Pacific Cup Race from San Francisco to Hawaii—once in the double-handed division with her father and another year as part of a fully crewed entry. A dedicated competitor, she has raced in the Snipe Class for over 25 years, culminating in a Snipe Master’s National Championship title. She has also competed on the international stage, participating five times in the Rolex Women’s Sailing Championships in Newport, Rhode Island.

Today, Ruth works alongside her husband, Steve Schock, running Schock Boats in Huntington Beach, where she brings her experience, knowledge, and passion for boating to help others find their perfect vessel. She remains an active member of Alamitos Bay Yacht Club, Richmond Yacht Club, and Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club, continuing to stay deeply connected to the sailing community.
